It's not uncommon to see children navigating devices as well or even better than their parents. Today, kids are growing up with computer skills as second nature. I grew up with Oregon Trail.
As technology continues to evolve, so does the need for programmers. Web programming, also known as coding, refers to the writing, markup and coding involved in web development and content. The most common languages used for web programming are XML, HTML, JavaScript, Perl5 and PHP.
So, what is the best way to teach kids the importance of technology and the future demands?
Let them play. While there are many online resources where kids can learn to practice with code, there are also many games that help them explore their problem-solving abilities, creativity and logic.
Kids in tech
One program doing this well is Kids In Tech, which provides technology education for kids and youth in after-school programs in Greater Lowell, Massachusetts.
They are focused on "creating the next generation of technology-savvy leaders through after-school computer science programs for kids and advancing computer literacy for all."
Fostering an environment where kids can have access to technology in a hands-on experience seems like a great kick-start to a career in tech.

According to U.S. News and World Report, the #1 in The 100 Best Jobs is a Software Developer. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects more than 30 percent employment growth for software developers between 2016 and 2026, which is much faster than average for all occupations. In that period, an estimated 253,400 jobs will open up.
